Terminator Salvation Review (Warning Spoilers)

Best Thing: Its Terminator! That and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wrigth, his Performance was solid!

Worst Thing: Not enough humanization on the characters, that and the plot. Not the best, but not the worst.

Score: 6.8/10terminator salvation

Terminator Salvation as you all know, is the 4th film in the Terminator franchise. This franchise had much success with the first 2 movies, especially the second, which in my opinion is the best one. Then came the third and well….it wasn’t what everyone expected, but it also wasn’t tooo bad…right? lol. And now we have this forth film which in many ways is a “salvation” of the terminator franchise.

It manages to do many things right. The whole atmosphere of the film is dead on. Very raw in your face camera style, which really makes you feel like you’re there. The special effects are dead on, as is the sound effects. The robots look realistic, as in, its not to far fetched that these robots can actually be built today. Even Arnold’s cameo appearance looks pretty good, he looks like he did in part 1.

Now on to the bad…for a movie talking so much about the difference between robots and humans, it doesn’t humanize the humans enough. Sounds weird right? But it’s true! ( i sound like my sister now lol) Christian Bale playing as the much hyped John Connor, never once, asks his wife (played by spiderman-3’s Bryce Howard) about the baby she is carrying! I mean i know its war, but come on man, you can at least show her a bit more love! Also another compliant, what on earth is Batman doing in Terminator? I’m not referring to the fact that Bale played Batman and now he’s playing Connor, no, i mean why does he have to do the Batman voice?? Seriously i was like what?? The director actually let that go by? I know the voice is cool and all, heck I even do it sometimes (where are they?!?!?) but come on…

The plot also suffers a bit, i mean after thinking about it, the whole movie is just about Connor saving his father (who is a teen) to send him back to the past. All the stuff in between is just added there to get to that point. It serves no other purpose, i mean they even blow up a base, which they say is skynet, but then at the end, you get another John Connor voice over, “we blew up their base…but its not over…they still have a network of robots….the war continues…”. Another minor complaint is that some parts of the movie may not be too clear to some viewers. Like the whole story behind Marcus Wrigth, the whole point of his existence and what happens to him is explained really quickly by some screen on a computer. If you’re not quick to read them, then I guess you’re lost. Also I dont think enough is clarified on the importance of John Connor as the faith of humanity.

Overall, Terminator Salvation is a good summer flick and it really did bring back the Terminator franchise. Now here’s hoping that the next one, is the Dark Knight of the Terminator franchise!! till next time…..
